"DIRECTOR'S JOURNAL - WEEK 6"

WEEK 6

MARCH 24TH 2014 (MONDAY) – Before all of the production start their final shoots. There are certain things that the directors and members need to know especially the shots. These are a few basic shot that could make a film more interesting:

  1. Extreme Close Up, Big Close Up, Close up, Medium Close Up
  2. Medium Shot, Medium Long Shot
  3. Long Shot, Very Long Shot, Wide Shot
  4. High Angle Shot, Low Angle Shot
  5. Panning (Left/Right), Tilting (Up/Down)


Playing with the shots will give a better and great film. During the final shoot, it must be extra shot for every scene to ensure the continuity of the story and scene. Although sometimes it may be needed to cover up the spoil shots. On the other hand, the editing team need to do their best to make sure everything’s fine. In editing there are also certain thing that is important as it may affects the video later on. For example, jump cut, match cut, montage cut, cutaway, cross-cuts, chronological editing and parallel editing.
