FEBRUARY 2014 (MONDAY) – Previously in my journal, I have been writing on the
groups and category of videos that required to complete this class and subject.
As for my group, we will be doing the Promotional Video for Department of Media
Studies, University of Malaya. By this week every group need to come out with
an idea for each team production and academically our process to get through
all the production matter will based on the Cyclical Production Model by Marcus
Gillezeau, 2004. There are eight element or phase in the production process.
Yet for this week, we have to starts from the concept.

So
our groups have managed to get some ideas with the supervised by our producer
and we were thinking to produce and educational promo video in a different way.
How is it? Let's take a look to several videos made by other local university,
they tend to highlight every courses offered and every type of wording and
sentences were also in the video too as to explain further. Alternatively, we
decided to make our promotional video look more matured in term of the
presentation and the concept that we choose is the indirect way message.
According
to art and propaganda (artandpropaganda.com, 2005), indirect art does not
necessarily move the intellect to direct perception of some kind of political
ideology. Instead, it moves the spirit
in a way that indirectly affects social change.
It moves our emotions and subconsciously affects our world-view. Referring
to the definition, our promotional video will be matured enough to get in line
with nowadays trend. Therefore, this concept will require a high level of
thinking for their media literacy. For the next phase, our group will work on
the development of the story line.

MEETING

FEBRUARY 2014 (THURSDAY) – Production meeting starts on the second week and
this meeting will gathered every single production subject including the students.
The media students from the 2013/2014 batch will be split and divided into
other than their production team which required them to produce a news
coverage. Crews have been divided and these are the details for my group.
