"THE SIXTH SENSE (1999) - REVIEW"

REVIEW BASED ON QUESTIONS

John Hiscock, a journalist for The Telegraph says that M Night Shyamalan has earned a reputation as Hollywood’s king of the twist (thetelegraph.co.uk). Night Shyamalan's was a good twister in making films, the audience need to keep focus and have a little critical thinking during watching the film because you may miss certain scene that really gives the idea of the whole story.

Recently, Bruce Willis have been acting in an action film such as RED, THE EXPENDABLES AND G.I JOE: RETALIATION but back in 1999 he roles as a calm person as in one of the film, The Sixth Sense. As written in IMDb, the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content, the story was about a boy who communicates with spirits that don't know they're dead seeks the help of a disheartened child psychologist (www.imdb.com)

Therefore, as mentioned in the first independent movie and tv news website, Screen Rant, Sixth Sense has made the surprise ending and it holds up as a creepy. It's a kind of ponderous at times where story about people coming to terms with their painful pasts (e.g. “ghosts”) through open communication with one another (www.screenrant.com) This is the x factor which makes this film differs than the others.

According to a comment from sbs.com by Margeret's, she says that his third feature film has at its centre a most remarkable performance by a child actor. Haley Joel Osment is scarily mature in his portrayal of a young boy who sees dead people. But this is not a supernatural thriller in the traditional sense, it's an eerie film rather than a terrifying one. It takes you on an intriguing, unsettling journey. Bruce Willis brings rather a lot of weight to any film these days, but he manages in this to shrug off the shadow of his other film presences and deliver a performance that is measured and ultimately touching (www.sbs.com.au)

The twist concept is x factor to any story. It will blows the audience mind when it comes to the climax. Unfortunately, nowadays, there's too much twist concept that brings a film down for having mistakes in their script. So, in order to create a twist concept film, the writer and director need to brainstorm and have to make more than a double checked to ensure the films really catch the audience attention.
