"DARK SKIES (2013) - REVIEW"

                                                         REVIEW BASED ON QUESTIONS

Scott Stewwart who are the writer and director of The Dark Skies film mentioned on his interview with Nerdist, he says that plot of this story is about a family living in the suburbs who believe there is a mysterious and terrifying force entering their home and preying upon them and their children. Events increase in severity, and they’re forced to take matters into their own hands because their friends, neighbours and the authorities don’t really believe the truth about what’s happening to them (nerdist.com).

The difference that the director would like to show is actually the message of this science fiction film where he wanted to tell the story of the fragmentation and ultimately the healing of a family. Moreover, he wanted to tell a story about a family that gets disconnected from the beginning. Also, for various reasons, this was meant to be a small picture where most of the action would take place in the house (mtvnews.com)

As interviewed by the nerdist on the special effects background, Scott Stewart mentioned that he try to make something that had almost no effects in it at all. "I really, purposely did that. I’m very comfortable in that milieu, and my favorite effects are generally the ones that are invisible. There are things in the movie that no one will ever know are effects. They won’t be thinking about it because the effects aren’t trying to be flashy or exciting. I’d purposely written a movie that was more character-focused; I was really excited about doing that," says the writter of the film (nerdist.com)

Therefore in his interview, he mentioned that this film do have a few effects which he oversaw and made it really cool but, the emphasis is not on the effects. (nerdist.com)
